Leading forced induction specialist Owen Developments (UK) Ltd has been awarded an extension to its existing contract with TOCA to supply the control-specification motorsport turbochargers and wastegates to the British Touring Car Championship.

The contract – first awarded in 2011 and now extended through until the end of the 2026 season – entails the supply and support of turbochargers and waste gates to the entire BTCC grid.

Owen Developments turbocharger units have delivered prodigious performance and reliability throughout all BTCC racing and testing activity over the last decade, while this latest extension will see the company contracted through the new Hybrid technology phase in the UK’s premier motorsport series.

Commenting on the contract renewal announcement, Owen Developments’ MD Lee Owen said, “Myself and everyone here at Owen Developments are extremely proud that we have retained our contract as the supplier of turbochargers and waste gates to a championship as prestigious and as high profile as the BTCC for a further 5 years”.

“This new appointment sees us move forward into the new and exciting Hybrid era of the BTCC. We've been proudly supporting the MINI Challenge race series with control turbos since 2011, our involvement with prestigious race series over the years such as the BTCC, have seen us win multiple supplier contracts and working with Mini Challenge has been no different.

From our early years working with Mini Challenge - cars fitted with 1.6 R56 Borg Warner Turbochargers, which later changed to the 2.0 F56 engine; fitted with MHI turbos,  Owen Developments actuators and our security lockwiring system, we ensure the entire grid not only races on a level playing field, but each team has a turbo they can trust to fight for victory in the head-to-head racing that is the Mini Challenge!

In 2014, we began development with the engine manufacturer AER (Advanced Engine Research) for the Indy Light race series for the 2015 season which saw Indy Lights downsize engine capacity from 3.5 V8 powerplants to 2.0 turbo.

AER has a long history of providing technical assistance to automotive manufactures and F1 engine suppliers. We proudly supply the grid with Owen Developments turbos providing regular support to AER for the US race series.
