Uprated BMW135 - 335 - 535i turbos

31 October 2011

newsOwen Developments - sole turbocharger supplier to the BTCC and the FIA Formula 2 series, is pleased to launch a pair of uprated MHI TD03L4 turbochargers for the popular BMW 135, 335, 535i models using the 335 bhp N54 six cylinder engine.

Designed to enhance the performance of the twin turbo 2979cc BMW powerplant, careful technical analysis by Owen Developments' engineers of the 135 / 335 / 535i's single scroll turbochargers has enabled the firm to refine and improve the standard TD03L4 MHI units using motorsport derived techniques.

On the inlet side, Owen's selects and fits a larger compressor wheel to increase the flow potential of the N54's turbos - this entails machining the standard MHI TD03L4 compressor housings to precise dimensions to suit. To improve exhaust gasflow, Owen Developments reprofiles the turbine wheel to match and then the units are fully balanced to motorsport tolerances.

Because this upgrade retains the standard MHI housings the Owen Developments BMW N54 turbochargers are a direct swap for the standard units. No performance figures are currently available, but Owen Developments estimates that with suitable ECU remapping the upgraded BMW 135 / 335 / 535i units will produce an extra 40-50 bhp, possibly more.

The Owen Developments uprated BMW N54 MHI TD03L4 turbochargers are supplied as modified new units, with the following part numbers:-

Priced at £2412.50 excluding VAT, the Owen Developments uprated BMW N54 turbochargers are on sale now.

Please note, these part numbers are for right hand drive BMW 135 / 335 / 535i models only. Owners of left hand drive cars should contact Owen Developments for additional information.
