New MHI TD05 turbo for T25 - T28
Owen Developments has launched a new MHI turbocharger targeted at Garrett T25 / T28 fitments in the performance aftermarket.
Designed to offer a more affordable - yet robust - alternative to the ball bearing internal wastegate units currently on the market, the MHI TD05H-06-18 G-8 turbocharger combines bolt-on, power friendly TD05 internals with the popular T25 / T28 mounting flange.
This makes the new Mitsubishi unit directly compatible with key Japanese performance Garrett T28 turbo fitments including the Nissan Skyline, Sunny GTi-R and later model SR20DET 200SX's / Silvia's, which usually runs out of power potential at 280 bhp.
From the outset this turbocharger has been designed for oil cooling only (unlike some ball bearing turbos which can fail when used with the water cooling blanked off). This makes the MHI TD05 18G ideal for classic VW or Porsche applications, or for any other engine where water cooling is unnecessary, undesirable or impossible.
Internally, MHI has incorporated a well proven hydrodynamic bearing platform with a 360 degree thrust bearing as standard, while an 8 cm? turbine housing and a 3 inch compressor inlet are standard fitment.
The new Owen Developments MHI TD05 18G is capable of power outputs in the range 400 plus bhp and incorporates the following key technical features:-
* V-band housing for easier orientation in engine bay
* Oil cooling for simpler installation without thermal management issues
* 360 degree hydrodynamic thrust bearings for reliability
* Optional larger turbine wheel, ball bearing upgrade and billet HTA compressor wheel also available - offering 480-500 bhp capability
* Supplied with 6 psi turbo actuator for optimal boost control
Priced at £912.60 plus VAT and carrying part number 49S78-05220, the new MHI TD05 18G unit is on sale now from Owen Developments.
