Silverstone Time Attack success for Owens
Owen Developments supported Time Attack entrant Steve Guglielmi managed a strong third place in his Audi 1.8T 20-valve engined Lotus Elise at round three of the series at Silverstone on Sunday May 31st .
Guglielmi, who missed out on overall victory at the Knockhill round by just 0.049 seconds two weeks earlier, overcame an intermittent technical problem to post a lap fast enough to place him at the sharp end of the Impreza and Evo mounted opposition. "Considering the problems it was a good result to get onto the podium," he said.
Steve's Elise engine has been highly tuned by Owen Developments who designed, specified and fitted the Garrett GT3076 ball bearing turbo and bespoke exhaust manifold, as well as installing the MoTec M400 ECU and associated wiring.
The Guglielmi Motorsport Elise is currently producing 517bhp at the flywheel, with a 100bhp shot of nitrous oxide injection. In a car weighing just 850 kilos, it's enough to take on the all conquering Imprezas and Evos that boast more than 800bhp. "Round 4 of the Time Attack is at Brands Hatch on June 28th and we're confident of a good result there," Guglielmi reckons.
