Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship

29 April 2006

newsLast year, racing in the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship was a new experience for us as a company, a family, for Mark and for our Honda Civic Type R! Although Mark did Motorcross in his younger days(!) this was entirely different and the choice of using the Honda for our first year turned out to be a good one and gave us the confidence to up the pace and push a little harder this year!

With this in mind, we decided to use our Mitsubishi Evo VIII test and development vehicle and so it was then converted for this purpose in January/February! (nothing like leaving it to the last minute!)

The car went out for the first time on the 25th March and qualified 13th. It was freezing cold, windy and the rain was coming down sideways and as I have just received these photos (courtesy of Steve Jones who is always there!) you can see what the conditions were like.

The race was brilliant and exciting, although nail-biting at times, after spinning off on the first bend and a few first race technical hitches, he finished a very happy 13th!

Nick Williamson was his usual self and did what he always does best - fights and battles to the end giving it all he has. He is truly a marvel to watch and does things that his car was not meant to do! After out-growing his Peugeot 205, he bought an Escort Cosworth and is racing this year in the Castle Combe Special GT Championship and the Track and Race Car Championship. On the 25th March he qualified 15th and finished 5th! We wish him every success!news
