Owen Developments Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Group A turbocharger now available
Owen Developments, Europe’s leading high performance turbocharger specialist and control turbo supplier to the BTCC & FIA Formula 2, has an association with the Mitsubishi brand dating back to the 1980’s. The firm is therefore particularly pleased to announce its latest Group A specification turbo for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X model, which incorporates innovative technologies to achieve impressive levels of performance whilst retaining homologation legality.
Based on the already impressive standard MHI TD05H Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X turbocharger, Owen Developments extensively modifies the unit to improve longevity, boost response and outright performance.
The unit’s centre housing rotational assembly is machined to accept an Owen Developments’ motorsport ball bearing conversion, which provides a higher boost and thrust loading capability compared to the stock journal bearing TD05H MHI turbo. In addition, the Owen’s ball bearing upgrade assists with transient boost response, a vital factor for rallying use with a turbocharged car, as well as assisting with outright reliability.
Whilst the stock MHI TD05H inconel turbine wheel is retained for Group A use, Owen Developments installs a billet aluminium 68mm HTA compressor wheel. Featuring fully optimised blade profile aerodynamics to ensure maximum efficiency, this endows the turbocharger with unrivalled spool up and outright flow characteristics.
Combined with the firm’s own 34mm FIA specification inlet restrictor, the Owen Developments / MHI Mitsubishi Group A turbocharger is capable of producing an impressive 340bhp on a Lancer Evo X when mapped with a MoTec ECU.
