High tech 1200 bhp capable Garrett GT42-105 HTA turbocharger now launched
Owen Developments, the sole turbocharger supplier to the BTCC and F2 has launched a 'monster' Garrett GT42-105 HTA external wastegate turbocharger featuring a number of high technology innovations, which satisfies the requirements of engines producing up 1200 bhp.
Based on Garrett’s GT42 design, which incorporates the firm’s renowned GT ball bearing centre housing, the original Garrett unit is heavily modified by Oxfordshire based Owen Developments in order to bring it to 105 HTA specification. The list of modifications includes:-
- 0.6 A/R ported shroud compressor housing
- 1.00 A/R TIAL stainless steel V-band turbine housing
- 105 mm billet alloy HTA compressor wheel
- Motorsport specification ball bearing upgrade
The selection of the 105mm diameter billet alloy HTA compressor wheel with advanced aerodynamics and Owen’s motorsport specification ball bearing core assembly provides outstanding boost response and spool up characteristics, while the ported shroud compressor housing is designed to avoid high-boost surge issues.
Owen’s use of the TIAL stainless steel V-band turbine housing removes a considerable amount of weight from what is a physically large unit, which is perfectly suited for trackday, drag racing and motorsport use.
